Obituary
Kenney, Joseph Lorne
June 23, 1956 – January 30, 2021
It is with deep sadness that the family of the beloved Lorne Kenney announce his peaceful passing at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on January 30, 2021, in his 65th year.
Lorne was devoted to his family and will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soul mate, Jackie (nee Cummins). He was a loving and supportive father to Matthew & Amanda (nee Jessup), Kyle and Kayla and a cherished Papa to Leah, Anna and Jacob, who he absolutely adored and with whom he shared a truly special bond.
Lorne was a Big Brother to his three beloved sisters, Karen (Martin), Beth (Jack), and Colleen (Alan) and a devoted care giver and loving grocery buddy to his mother in-law Shirley Cummins, all of whom will miss him greatly and are so saddened by his passing. Lorne was predeceased by his loving parents Fred & Frances Kenney and his father in-law Jack Cummins, who he had a special relationship with.
He will be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sister in-laws, cousins and dear friends. You all held a special place in his heart. Special loving mention to Bill Cummins who stood by us and supported us through this sad time and was a good friend to Lorne always. My gratitude and love also to Donna & Kim Crossman without who this 46 year love affair with my husband wouldn’t have happened and who from that day to this day continue to be the most supportive friends everyone should be so lucky to have in their life.
A long-standing employee of Dynacast (formerly Fisher Gauge), Lorne greatly valued his relationships with his colleagues and looked forward to each working day with enthusiasm.
No words can express our gratitude to Dr. John Beamish and Sherry Mossor for their passionate care of our dear Lorne and for your guidance to our family, during his brief illness. We also would like to thank all the other doctors, nurses and medical staff who cared for Lorne, we are in awe of all of you especially during this very challenging time.
Due to Covid-19, There will be a Funeral Mass and celebration of Lorne’s life held at a later date and we look forward to coming together as soon as the restrictions are lifted to give him a most deserved goodbye.
Should you wish, memorial donations can be made to Hospice Peterborough and/or St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church and can be made through the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough. “Dearest Lorne, Dad and Papa….Our hearts are broken and going forward we can’t imagine life without you. You were the kindest, most caring and giving husband, father and grandfather. You always put us first and loved all of us with all your heart. We have all been truly blessed that you chose us to be a part of your life. We ask God to take you and your gentle spirit and kind soul home, and look forward to the day we will all meet again.”
