Madeline Gertrude “Gertie” March
Madeline Gertrude March “Gert” – 76, Bible Hill, formerly of North Sydney, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, January 28, 2021 in Vimy Court, Bible Hill.
Born in Grand Falls, NL, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Ella (Angel) March.
Gert was trained and worked for many years as a CNA in Newfoundland. She enjoyed sewing and was known for her infectious laugh and smile. Gert moved to North Sydney in 2010 to be cared for by her niece, Jeanette and eventually made her home at Vimy Court in Bible Hill. Days out for lunch at various restaurants in Truro with Jeanette was something she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of the Salvation Army for many years. Gert will be lovingly missed by all who knew her.
A sincere thank you to the staff of Vimy Court for the exceptional care provided to Gert.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Sarah (late Herman) Burke, Muriel (late Dave) Conway; brothers, Frank and Walter March; she is survived by nieces, Arlene, Nancy and Elaine Burke, Diane Healey and Jeanette Conway; nephews, Paul Conway and Frank March Jr.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request.
