Ethel Beatrice Craig
August 2, 1949 – December 28, 2021
Ethel passed away peacefully at St Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph on Tuesday December 28, 2021 at the age of 72.
Devoted mother to her three children Laura Hanke (Robert), Sharon McKeown (Jason Godbout) and Kevin McKeown (Kailee). Proud Grannie to Ryan, Simon (predeceased), & Julia Hanke; Luke, Addison, Nolan, Reid, Hayden, Kennedy, & Carter Godbout; and Blythe & Harper McKeown.
Ethel was born in Quebec and grew up in Stoneham. She is predeceased by her parents Ernest & Beatrice Craig, brother Arthur Craig (Hazel), and sister Dorothy Ponlot. She is survived by her siblings Robert Craig (Helen Anne), Norman Craig (Sandra), and Edith Brintnell.
Ethel touched so many lives and will be missed by her many friends throughout the community including her prior work colleagues, Probus group, countless bridge groups, transplant friends, and faith family at St James’ Anglican Church.
Ethel was a champion of organ donation after receiving the gift of life herself with a single lung transplant in September 2013. Her family is forever grateful for the extra eight years they received as a result of the selfless donation from her donor.
Ethel’s family will receive relatives and friends at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge on Sunday, January 2nd from 1-5 pm. Masks and social distancing will be required. A private church service will be held on Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 10am and will be by invitation. A live stream will be available and the link to watch the service will be available on Lounsbury’s website.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St James’ Anglican Church, Cambridge Ontario in Ethel’s memory. We would also encourage you to register as an organ donor at www.beadonor.ca
