SCRIVENS, Karen Elaine –
After a year and a half of courageous battle against a critical, complex, and ever-changing illness, where she had successfully fought from being bedridden to making Christmas dinner, on Monday, December 27, 2021, Karen Scrivens (nee Belch) of Picton suddenly passed away at the age of 63. Adored daughter of Evelyn Voskamp (John) of Belleville and the late Ernie Belch. Beloved wife for 30 years to Dr. Blair Scrivens and daughter-in-law to Rev. Robert Scrivens. Cherished mother of Nicole Wadsworth (Ben). Karen’s greatest joy was her role of grandmother to 2-year old Charlotte. She is survived by her brothers David Belch (Jane) of Bancroft and Daniel Belch (Ruth) of Simcoe and she will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. A very special thank you from the family goes out to the entire healthcare communities in Picton, Belleville and Kingston for their care of Karen.
She used her organizational gifts on many committees and boards, including decades of service at Joy Bible Camp in Bancroft. Karen will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, generosity, her love of God and her inability to stand by if someone was in need.
Karen is resting at the Rushnell Funeral Home – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street West, Picton (613-476-2450).
*** A Private Family Service will be held this week. A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held at a later date to be announced.***
In lieu of flowers, donations to Joy Bible Camp in Bancroft, ON or the “Back the Build” fund of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (reconstruction of Picton Hospital) would be appreciated by Karen’s family.
