Leo John MacDonald 1937 2021

MacDonald, Leo John, age 84,
formally of South River Road, Antigonish, passed away peacefully with
family members by his side, on December 23, 2021.
He was born May 14, 1937 in Fairmont, Antigonish Co., to
Colin and Mary Margaret (Ring) MacDonald.
Leo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years , Bernice
(Gillis), daughter Leona Lavers (Mark), sons Colin (Susan), and
Francis (Carlene), brother John Dan, and grandchildren Joshua, Luc
(Olivia), Bethany, John, and Axel, along with many nieces and
nephews.
Leo enjoyed being outside, working, fishing, hunting, and
being around animals, especially work horses.
Leo was a carpenter, and worked 50 years for various
contractors including Colin R Construction, and Dwayne Green
Construction. Known as a hard worker, his many job sites included the
Canso Causeway, and various Superstores throughout Nova Scotia and New
Brunswick. He was the type of worker who kept working all day, rarely
stopping until the job was done.
Leo was a man of few words, but his actions spoke loudly. He
was an honest man, and especially kind to those in need. He really
believed in hard work, and integrity, which is the lasting legacy that
he has passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of
Leo’s life will take place when COVID restrictions permit
larger gatherings. Arrangements have been entrusted to C L Curry
Funeral Services, Antigonish.
The family wishe to thank the staff at Townsview
Estates; Dr. Trevor Locke; Dr. David Henderson, and the
staff at the Palliative Care unit at Colchester
