Murphy, Christopher Donald George
December 21st, 2021
Christopher Donald George Murphy, 42 years young, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, on December 21, 2021. He left behind his one true love, wife of 12 years Cheryl Murphy (Mitchell) and his daughter Starr. Missed dearly by his mother, Karen Baillargeon (Bedell, Murphy) and step-father, Chris Baillargeon of Chatham; his sister, Deanna Murphy-Ladd (David Ladd) of Chatham; his brother, Chad Murphy (Christine Lochrie) of London; Zack, Austin and Maggie Baillargeon of Chatham and his nieces and nephew, Ethan, Olivia and Silver. Sadly missed by uncle Bill (Bedell) of Manitoulin Island, uncle John Murphy (Susan) of London and many cousins. He was blessed to have had a wonderful father-in-law, Kenny Mitchell (Liz) of Sarnia and family. Predeceased by his father, Leonard George Murphy of Forest, in 2004.
Chris was an avid outdoorsman and could always be found hiking, camping under the stars listening for the screech owls, enjoying a sunrise or a sunset, or watching his favourite football team, the Denver Broncos.
Chris was diagnosed with ALS, in March 2019, and fought a courageous battle right up until the end. ALS took almost everything from him, but it did not take away his zest for the outdoors or spending quality time with family and friends.
Chris enjoyed working for Kern Water and Bigras Painting, over the years, gaining life long friends. Those that were lucky enough to be a part of Chris’s circle, true friends and family, know that he loved them intensely and fiercely.
Chris cherished the words by Lou Gehrig:
“When you have a wife who has been a tower of strength and shown more courage than you dreamed existed that’s the finest I know.”
Chris’s daughter will always remember his words to her “Always be Humble and Kind.”
Special thanks to Dr. Clifford, Dr. Shoesmith and her ALS team at University Hospital in London; Sean, his O/T, and all the workers from the LHIN Palliative Care Consultation Team of Sarnia.
There will be a private family Celebration of Life at a later date.
