JACOB FRIESEN
Jacob Peter Friesen, born January 18, 1956, passed away peacefully at home, with his son Joshua at his side, on December 22, 2021. Son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Friesen, proud father of Joshua Jacob Friesen (Sarah) (Charles Wood), grandfather of Fiona and Norah, brother of Bill, Liz (Mike) Maslink, Margaret (John) Selkirk, Mary (Allan) Walton and best friend of Cheryl Hampton.
Jake grew up on a farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake and recently moved to Wasaga to be near his son and granddaughters. Jake will always be remembered for his ever-present sense of humour and his life motto of “Live And Let Live”. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it and was the most non-judgemental person you would ever want to meet. In his battle with cancer he never once complained or felt sorry for himself, but was grateful for every extra day he was given. His quick wit and smile will be missed by all who knew him.
Special thanks to Cheryl, Nurse Julie, Herman and Earl, for helping make it possible for Jake to spend his last days at home, in peace, listening to his Whiskey Blues, among those who cared about him.
Aufwiedersehen !

  1. Jake, or Jake the Snake, as some of us knew you, you left far too soon. Wish I had known sooner that you were struggling; would have come out to visit. My best memories of us are forever – obviously our rendevous to Winnipeg during our Senior year at Eden. What they said about you here was true then, as it was throughout your life. A great sense of dry humor, loved by all, always a smile, never a complaint “Live and let live!” This will be one of the reunions I’ll look forward to. You will be missed, Jake. Thanks for the awesome memories, if anything, you taught us to “be real.” Love you man, Gunner (Paul McLain-Lugowski).
