Bill came into this world fighting for his life as a premature baby born on the Siegner farm on the South Line of Brant where he resided until he started his working career with the Bank of Commerce. Bill married the love of his life, Phyllis, on July 11, 1964, and they began their life journey of 57 years together. Bill’s banking career took Bill and Phyllis to many towns and cities throughout southern Ontario. Bill had a gift for making lifelong friends wherever his career took him. Bill’s love and passion for farming led him back home to the family farm in 1969 where he and Phyllis raised their family. Bill had a strong work ethic which he instilled in his family. He worked hard but at the end of the day, he made time for his family and social time with his many friends.
Throughout a beautiful life, Bill was a true leader. He was the first one to lend a hand to a friend or neighbour in need and he always fought for what was just and right. He was a faithful husband and a dedicated father who ensured his family knew the value of hard work and commitment and that they were loved.
Bill’s son Bill Jr. took over the family farm several years ago and Bill actively helped as much as he could until he was no longer able to drive the machinery. When he could no longer help with farming, Bill enjoyed visits to the farm, and he continued to be keenly interested in what was going on and offered his farming wisdom until his last days.
Bill had a strong faith and has now been called to be with the Lord. Bill’s spirit will live on through his large family and many friends.
