It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Stephen Michael Charles Degen,
67 years, of River Phillip, Cumberland County, on Tuesday,
December 14, 2021 in the QE II Hospital (Infirmary Site),
Halifax.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the
late William and Helen “Mickey” (Hall) Degen.
Although short in stature,
Stevie’s tenacity was gigantic. He was a card
shark and if you played Crib or Hearts with him, you had better be
prepared to lose.
Stevie attended Prince Andrew High
School in Dartmouth and Kings College studying Journalism.
After settling back in Nova Scotia from Ontario, Steve worked as a
machinist at IMP in Amherst. He had a special place in his
heart for small children and dogs, not necessarily in that order. We
will truly miss him.
He will be dearly missed by children,
Scott (Shelly) Degen, Kimberley Matthews, Kimberly (Darryl) Corkery,
Barry (Angela) Brownell; grandchildren, Kalei, Kennedy, Madison,
Kayden, Will, Ryan, Tyler, Austin, Olivia and Ian; great grandchildren
Jude, Lewis, Julia and Charlotte. He will also be missed by his
siblings Terry (Carmel) Degen, Shaun (Al Burnard) Degen, Ruth (Tom)
MacKenzie, Kelly (Alan) Miller and Maureen (Fritz) Krauch as well as
many nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by Dougie Hall, Pauline
MacDonnell, Harris Jobe, Cheeco, Rex and Toad.
Stephen was predeceased by his wife
Cheryl (Webber), grandson Evan Matthews , sister Catherine Peck,
nephew Billy MacKenzie and niece Sandra
Leblanc.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361). Honouring the
wishes of the family, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be
interred in the Little Forks Cemetery at a later date.

made to your local foodbank.
