Elaine’s Obituary
SURETTE, Elaine Mary – age 45, It is with great sadness that Elaine’s family informs you of her passing after a lengthy battle with cancer. Elaine was well loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born November 26, 1976 Elaine lived in South end of Yarmouth almost all if her life and couldn’t think if a better place to be, although she would often smile when talking about spending weekends at her aunt Donna and Uncle Joe’s growing up. She graduated from Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High school in 1998 and started a family shortly thereafter. She grew up in an all female house hold, and after having two daughters of her own she always let her partner know he was outnumbered by females. Elaine was a fulltime mom, and focused all her time and energy on her daughters, and making sure her home was filled with love and happiness. The love she gave to her children was retuned in kind after her diagnosis, as her children where always by her, to help and support her in whatever she needed. Elaine was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in the summer of 2005, but that did not stop her from living. Elaine went on to defy the odds and gave birth to her second daughter in 2009 proving that life is truly bigger than cancer, after her first diagnosis, Elain could not wait for June to participate in the Relay for Life event. Even being 8 months pregnant could not stop her from walking the track and celebrating life. Elaine leaves behind a very large family, her common-Law partner Daryll Watkins, Yarmouth; Daughters Dakota Josephine and Savanna Grace; Mother Eileen Surette; sister Cathy Surette; Niece Jena Purdy and a very large extended family of loving, aunts, uncles and cousins. As per Elaine’s wishes no visitation or funeral service will be held. A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donation can be made to any branch of cancer research, The Lodge that Gives in Halifax, The IWK Children’s hospital, or the Palliative care unit in Yarmouth. A special thank you to the staff of 4 North for all their help and care for Elaine during this time.
