Phillip George Cook
Feb. 24, 1948 – Dec. 9, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Phillip Cook, at the age of 73 years on Dec. 9, 2021 at the Selkirk Regional Health Center.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Nellie Cook, brothers Freddie, Kenny, David, Donovan and Henry-Allen.
He is survived by 2 brothers Andy (Roxie) and Bobby, sister Barbara, sister-in-law Caroline Crate, special niece and nephew Priscilla and Ernie (Louise), his baby (cat), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
His time spent with family and friends was time he cherished. He loved all his nieces and nephews very much. He was a quiet man with very few words, but if you got to know him and he was very comfortable with you, he would tease you, as he loved to tease.
Phillip was born and raised in Selkirk, had many jobs throughout his life, but the job that he loved was working at the Friendship Center until his retirement where he got to love all the staff past and present like a second family.
He had many interests that included fishing, making dream catchers, key chains and doing his find-a-word puzzles. He loved animals as all his pets were his “babies”. He also enjoyed going on long rides to look at the scenery and to see if he could spot any wildlife.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre for taking good care of him and making him comfortable.
Following his wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at a later date.
Funeral services will be held on Friday December 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. There will be a luncheon to follow in the hall there as well. Proof of vaccination will be required to attend.
