Leonard Edward Harris;
October 22, 1934-December 7, 2021
Longtime Drayton Valley resident Leonard (Len) Edward Harris passed away in the Drayton Valley Continuing Care facility on December 7th, 2021 at the age of 87 years.
Len was born on October 22nd, 1934 in Cabri, Saskatchewan, the second son of Mollie and Atwell Harris.
Len is lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor; daughter, Tara (Pat ) Fitzpatrick; sons, Blaine (Sheila) and Darren; 13 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. He is also remembered by brothers, Gary (Shirley), Ken (Renata) and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his children, Gail Olsen, Shawn, Jason; grandson, Eric Olsen, his parents and sisters, Jeanette and Donna.
Len had a long and successful career in the Oil Patch. He arrived in Drayton Valley when oil was first discovered. As a young man started out as a Swamper and worked his way up to Toolpush, responsible for service rig operations in various locations around the world. Len established a reputation for honesty and hard work.
After work and in retirement, Len was never happier than when he was on the farm that he and his family had carved out of the wilderness over a half century ago.
Cremation has been entrusted to Affinity Funeral Service, with internment to be held in the summer of 2022 at Riverview Cemetery, Drayton Valley, Alberta.
