Gerald William Townsend 1936 2021

Gerald William Townsend
May 11, 1936 – December 5, 2021
With love and sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Gerald Townsend, with family by his side at the Drayton Valley Long Term Care facility, at the age of 85.
Gerald was born in Entwistle, raised in Rocky Rapids and moved with his parents, Thomas and Annie, to Edmonton where he finished his schooling as a heavy-duty mechanic and met Delores. Gerald and Delores were married in 1958. His career took them to Manitoba first, then Fort St. John and McLeod Lake BC. They moved back to Alberta in 1975 and lived on their farm north of Alsike until they retired and moved into Drayton Valley. Since the passing of Delores in January, the burden of his Parkinson’s and dementia became more than he could bear.
Gerald leaves behind his children, Judy (Danny) Sindia, Doug (Coreen), Murray (Emma), Bryan, and John (Noahlea). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Delores, his grandson Darrell, his daughter-in-law Karen and all three of his brothers.
Gerald’s life will be celebrated at a later date.
For those who desire, Memorial contributions in Gerald’s name may be made directly to the Drayton Valley Hospital, Continuing Care.
May he join Delores to Rest in Peace for eternity.
