1939-2021
Lillian Margaret “Lil”
Rafuse – 81, Truro,
passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021, at The
Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born in Earltown, she was a
daughter of the late Alexander “Sandy” and Bessie
(Marshall) Marshall.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Charles Lewis “Sonny” Rafuse; sisters, Frances,
Hazel; brothers, Bernie, Dougal, Herbie, Joe.
She is survived by her sons, Lewis Rafuse and family, Charles
Rafuse (Katrina Deschamps); granddaughter, Jessica Allen;
later-in-life partner, Donald Jesse “DJ” Holt and
his children, Shelley (Peter) MacNeil, Dawn Holt, Kelly (Irene)
Holt.
Lil loved music, especially Elvis and Gospel music. She
played guitar and loved to sing, and although she was rarely on key,
we loved listening to her. She loved traveling and taking pictures and
collecting trinkets along the way. Lil had lots of adventures, but
among her favourites was having tea with Rita MacNeil at
Rita’s Tea Room and going to see an Elvis impersonator
perform. She loved sunflowers, live music, camping and everything
Elvis. Above all, Lil loved her family; her family was the most
important thing in her life.
Private interment in Harmony Cemetery and a celebration of
her life will be held at a later date.
