Obituary of Irene Grant
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother and sister Irene Grant. She passed peacefully on November 26, 2021 surrounded by family.
Irene was born in New Glasgow on February 8, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Alex and Ellen (Roddick) Lochead.
Irene is survived by her sons Alex Grant (Rose), Fort St. John, BC and Phillip Grant (Daniele), Ponoka, Alberta; step daughter Donna Mason (George) and stepson Paul Grant (Mariea); brother Harvey “Roddick” Lochead, Lyons Brook; sisters Hester Duff, New Brunswick and Mary Campbell (Joe), Pictou; brother-in-law Jimmy Daley, Westville; seven grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by an infant daughter Tanya; sister Ruth Daley and brother in law John Duff.
Irene attended Westville schools. She worked at Bob Ross’, Zellers, Metropolitan, and Grants Glass. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for years holding many positions. She loved to quilt and made beautiful ones for family and friends and also donated them to the church and people in need. She also kept herself busy crocheting and knitting.
We would like to thank all the members of her church for all their love and kindness and the nurses and doctors at the Aberdeen Hospital for their excellent care while she was there.
Irene is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
There has been cremation and we will hold a private Celebration of Life on Friday, December 3, at 1 o’clock. Her interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery For any one who wishes to live stream the Celebration of Life just follow the link below. zoom.us/j/96225080397
