Obituary of Joan Porter
Viola ‘Joan’ Porter passed away on January 25th, 2021 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Gus Harold Charles Porter. Dear mother of Bonnie McPhee of Aylmer and Sue Bergen (Pete) of Aylmer. Loving Nana of Karen Pratt (Joe), Michael McPhee (Kelly Jansen) and Thomas McPhee. Great-grandmother / Supernana of Rylee, Sienna, Myles and Olivia, Evelyn, and Leo. Sister of Carol Anne Noble of Toronto, Mark Stanton of London, David Stanton of Orangeville and Paul Stanton of British Columbia. Family friend of Cathy Minjauw. She was born in Picton, Ontario on March 2, 1939, daughter of the late Gladys and Robert Stanton. Joan started work at the Bell phone company and went on to work at Timkens in St.Thomas for many years. She had a strong work ethic.
Joan was a caring generous soul who made a friend wherever she went and believed in showing your appreciation. Joan was devoted to her family and friends and lead by faith everyday. She will be missed by the many lives she blessed. Cremation has taken place. A “celebration of life” will be held at a later date. Donations to the Dementia Society in her name would be appreciated.
