Obituary
We are saddened to announce the passing of Peter Bodnar on November 8, 2021.
Born in 1940, Pete was the twelfth and last child of Elsie and John Bodnar of Two Hills, Alberta. Many of his brothers and sisters still live in and around St. Paul, Alberta. Pete was also the husband and partner of Linda, the father of Michael, Mark (Sandra), Julie (JP) and John (Corrina), the grandfather of Isabelle, Jade, Laecy, Braedy, Riley, Brayden, Cameron and Rusty, the great-grandfather of Alba and Rori, and the friend and mentor of a great many others.
Pete was a pillar of our community and had a huge impact on building Houston – from the town itself to the roads surrounding it. He was always available to help others and volunteer his time. His generosity will forever be remembered by people throughout the region.
Even though he worked so hard, Pete always made time for his family. He taught us to ride bikes, drive cars and snowmobiles, and play baseball and hockey, and he’d sneak in late to our Christmas concerts after spending the day plowing roads or fixing graders. He was the heart and soul of our family and our biggest hero. So much of who we are is made from what we learned from him, and we will cherish those things forever. We are fortunate to have had him as long as we did. We recognize and appreciate just how much he loved us.
A family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
