Obituary of Dave Hay
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of David Norval Hay, on Nov 21, 2021, after a short battle with an aggressive cancer at the age of 70.
David was born May 25, 1951, the youngest of five children born to Margaret and Norval Hay. He grew up in Pouce Coupe. He excelled in sports, baseball, volleyball, and curling. After High School he attended UVIC and received a Teaching Degree. He married Colleen McCartney in 1976 and they returned to Dawson Creek in 1979. Teaching jobs were scarce, so he opened his own Construction Company specializing in Drywalling which he continued to do up until his illness. They had two children, Erin in 1981 and John in 1985.
David enjoyed people. He was a friend to everyone and always willing to help. He was active in the Pouce Coupe Legion. He enjoyed golfing and was a competitive Curler. He loved to hunt and fish and spent countless hours at his cabin in Gundy. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Colleen, son John and daughter Erin as well as Bob (Margi) Hay, Shirley (Bob) Muress, Charlotte (Ken) Mclean and Mary (Bill) Leake and many nieces and nephews.
As per Dave’s wishes, a Celebration of life will be held at the Hay Farm in Gundy during the summer with interment to follow at the Gundy Cemetery.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
