Obituary
In sadness, we announce the passing of Andrew Eugene Scotter on November 20, 2021 at the age of 79 in Fort McLeod, Alberta with his family by his side. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed Andrew’s courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Andrew came out a hero and stayed faithful and strong until the end.
Andrew is survived by his beautiful wife Georgia, and was a proud and loving father to Michelle, Cass (SIL), Brad and Warren, who will miss him dearly. He was a wonderful grandfather to 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Georgia and Andrew cherished every moment of their 25 years together. They created much peace and joy in their eternal companionship. Theirs was a true abiding love.
Growing up the only child of Eugene and Hazel Scotter on a ranch near Carmangay, Alberta, he had many friends and cousins that he remained close to until the end of his days.
He lived in many places over his 79 years, touching many lives and making many friends.
Andrew loved taking long walks with his daughter, and considered a day on horseback with friends a very good day. He was a talented artist. A master with a paintbrush and the written word; authoring many short stories and a novel. When he was on the water kayaking with Georgia he was one with nature. And when he was out on the water his adventurous nature would really come out to play. Andrew was also a well-respected entrepreneur, known for his strong work ethic and ran several of his own successful businesses.
He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, and a man who would give his shirt to anyone in need.
He was a good role model to his children and grandchildren and did the best he could to teach and guide them throughout his life.
Andrew was a strong, proud and good man who followed his Saviour’s teachings. He will be forever loved and missed.
Everyone who remembers him is invited to celebrate Andrew’s life in their own way. Andrew’s family would be honoured if you carry his spirit with you by performing unexpected and unsolicited random acts of kindness in his memory.
There will be a private family Memorial Service held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fort Macleod, AB. For those who wish, Live-Streaming will be available by heading to www.generationsfh.ca and scrolling to the bottom of Andrew’s obituary. Following the memorial service, roughly 3:00 p.m, all are welcome to attend a graveside service at the Union Cemetery in Fort Macleod, AB.

  1. To Andys family,
Deepest sympathy in Andys passing. His parents and my parents were best of friends and lived across the alley from one another in Carmangay. They took turns having each other for supper, and surprised each other with baking etc. Every chance they got. But the best was the constant crib games at each other’s homes, when Hazel and my mom Hazel partnered against Gene and my dad Milo. There was a lot of fun, as both sides wanted to win. They just teased and carried on and had so much fun. My brother Calvin and Frank Anderson and the Volk boys used to be good friends back then. Andy was always such a handsome , likeable fellow from when I first new him in school and they lived on the farm in the coulees east of Carmangay. God Bless you as you go through the grieving process.
