Obituary of Adam Lambertus Bakker
Adam Lambertus Bakker – May 14,1931 – January 19, 2021
Bakker, Adam Lambertus – Sadly, after a battle with a myriad of health issues, Adam finally succumbed at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, in Burlington on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in his 90th year.
A long time resident at Albright Centre, in Beamsville, Adam was born and raised in St. Catharines to Lambertus, and Sytje Bakker. Adam is now with his very loving late wife, Caroline, as well as older brother, John.
He is survived by his sister, Martha Deeker. Along with his first wife, Ester Douglas, he was the deeply loved father of Carolyn Burgess (Bill), Mark (Carol), John, and James (Fe). He will also be sadly missed by grandchildren Barry (Natalie), Brian (Wendy), Michael (Teresa), Matthew, Jordan, and Chelsea (Eric), as well as great grandsons Brayden, Barron, and Carson. He is also survived by his nephews Colin and John, niece Janet, as well as stepson, Steven (Peggy), and granddaughters Katie, and Heather.
A penchant for humour in various forms, he was especially fond of word play, utilizing his extensive vocabulary to hone his craft to an acute perfection, complemented with a gleam in his eye, and a mischievous grin.
Adam was a Constable in the Grantham Township police force and retired from General Motors of Canada, St. Catharines, after 30 years of service.
Due to Covid, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A celebration of Adam’s life will be held when gathering restrictions have been relaxed.
