William Meyles November 15th 2021

William (Willy) Meyles made his journey home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 15th at the age of 81 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
Willy was born in New Westminster, BC to parents Klaas and Gertrude and was the youngest of five children. He worked hard on his family’s farm in Pitt Meadows and later in Vernon. He spent the next few years driving a logging truck, farming in Alberta, and then working as a house mover.
After a house fell on his thumb, he moved back to Vernon to recuperate where he met and fell in love with “the girl from Saskatoon,” Joanne. In April of 1968, they were married. They lived in Penticton, welcoming their first child, Stephen, in 1970. A short 11 months later, they welcomed their second child, Mike, and in 1974 their daughter, Mona. That fall, the family moved to the lower mainland and in 1982 they welcomed their youngest child, Allison.
Willy spent over 50 years driving truck. Longing for the farming life, in 1986 Willy and Joanne bought a 20-acre (hog) farm in Langley. Willy worked on the farm by day while driving truck at night, always ensuring to provide for his family.
Willy eventually retired and volunteered for the Mission Thrift Store, again driving truck. The family continued to grow as the children married and had their own children. The grandchildren were a tremendous joy for Willy as family was always his priority.
Willy is survived by his wife, Joanne, children Stephen (Kelly), Mona (Rob), Allison (Jeff), six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Mike.
A memorial will be held in Willy’s honour at Immanuel CRC (21713 50th Ave) on Friday, November 19th at 4pm.
