Obituary of Vingenzo Arthur Vocal
C’est avec tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Vingenzo Vocal le 14 novembre, 2021, entouré de sa famille. Vincent est né le 12 janvier 1935 a Saint-Camille, Québec. Il a obtenu sa license d’électricien avant de déménager a Welland en 1955. Il a été embauché chez Atlas Steels en 1957, ou il s’est d’abord impliqué dans l’union, devenant finalement son président entre 1973 et 1990 lorsqu’il a lancé sa propre entreprise de conseil en travail. Vince a fondé la Fédération canadienne des unions indépendants (C.N.F.I.U.) en tant qu’organisation cadre protégeant et fournissant des ressources et éducation aux petits unions indépendants. Il a retraite en 2006. Vince a également été membre du conseil d’administration de Pen Financial pendant de nombreuses années, en tant que président pendant un certain temps.
Vince a travaillé fort toute sa vie et a apprécié sa retraite en voyageant, en jouant au golf et en passant du temps avec sa famille et amis. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Lillian, sa fille Joanne (Ira), son fils Michael, ses beaux-fils Spyros, Christopher et Jason Marinos; petits-enfants Elise (Balder), Peter, Jessica, Alex, Michael, Sammy, Sebastian, Daria; arrière-petit-fils Oscar, sœurs Armelle (Donald) et Réjeanne, beau-frère Edward Gaunt (Donna) ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Vince a été prédécédé par ses parents Constant et Adela, par son épouse Denise, les frères Ovila, Francis, Yvon et Réjean et par les sœurs Mariette et Luigia. La familles tient a exprimer sa gratitude au Dr. Joshua Rempel et aux infirmières de St. Elizabeth pour leurs soins.
Le SALON FUNÉRAIRE WELLAND est honoré de se voir confier les vœux de Vingenzo. Une célébration de la vie aura lieu à une date ultérieure. Des dons à la Société canadienne du cancer seraient appréciés par la famille comme expressions de sympathie.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Vingenzo Vocal on November 14, 2021, surrounded by his family. Vince was born on January 12, 1935, in St. Camille, Québec. He achieved his electrician’s license before moving to Welland in 1955. He was hired at Atlas Steels in 1957 where he first became involved in the union, eventually becoming its president between 1973 and 1990 when he started his own labour consulting business. Vince founded the Canadian Federation of Independent Unions (C.N.F.I.U.) as an umbrella organization protecting and providing resources and education of small independent unions. He continued to grow and represent the group until his retirement in 2006. Vince was also a Pen Financial Board member and served as president for many years.
Vince worked hard his whole life and enjoyed his retirement travelling, playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. He leaves behind his wife Lillian, daughter Joanne (Ira), son Michael, stepsons Spyros, Christopher, and Jason Marinos; grandchildren Elise (Balder), Peter, Jessica, Alex, Michael, Sammy, Sebastian, Daria; great-grandson Oscar, sisters Armelle (Donald) and Réjeanne, brother-in-law Edward Gaunt (Donna) as well as many nieces and nephews. Vince was pre-deceased by his parents Constant and Adela, by his wife Denise, brothers Ovila, Francis, Yvon and Réjean and by sisters Mariette and Luigia. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Joshua Rempel, the nurses of St. Elizabeth and Palliative Care Team for their care.
WELLAND FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE is honored to have been entrusted with Vingenzo’s wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society as an expression of sympathy.
