In Celebration of
Stavroula Martinis Makos
February 10, 1946 –
November 12, 2021
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Voula’s passing. She died in the early hours of Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Montreal Neuro after a brave battle with ALS.
Born Stavroula Martinis in Polydroso, Greece on February 10, 1946, Voula moved with her family to the suburbs of Sydney, Australia in the early 1960s. After marrying her husband Dimitri on September 12, 1968, Voula came to Montreal, Canada. It was here that she would give birth to three children and devote her life to providing a loving home for them.
Voula was caring, kind, smart, optimistic, and beautiful. She cared deeply about family and would literally do anything and everything for her husband and children, Bill, Vicky (Benoit Delorme), and Elias. Her spirit was unrelenting, her faith was unwavering and her strength was unparalleled. She always said her children were her strength but the truth is she was ours.
Voula touched everyone she came into contact with. Her positivity was infectious and she was responsible for the smiles on the faces of many. Neighbours, coworkers, people at her local grocery store and others she crossed paths with would become lifelong friends. She would provide care for several during the last decades of her life.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 25, from 4pm to 9pm at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex (1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont). The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 26, at 10am at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex (Outremont Chapel). Vaccination passport required to attend. Burial to follow.
The funeral will be streamed online live or on replay at funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/40728
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALS Quebec or the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital.
