Obituary of Bruce Bolivar
F. Bruce Bolivar (1932 to 2021)
Bruce left this earthly world suddenly on November 9th, 2021. He is survived by his sons, David Bolivar, Keswick, ON; Daniel Bolivar (Crystal), Dartmouth, NS; daughter, Jane Bolivar (Doug), Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Matthew Bolivar (Elizabeth), Halifax, NS and Courtney Bolivar (Darren), Dartmouth, NS.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Bolivar, son, Stephen Bolivar (infant) parents, Walter and Marian Bolivar, and brothers Avard and William.
Bruce totally enjoyed all aspects of his life and was a good friend to many. He was a content person who gave everything his all. He was a devoted husband and father who was passionate about creativity. Some 30 odd years ago, when Joan took up rug hooking, Dad wanted to help. He created The Bolivar Cutter. Rug hookers around the world know of this famous cutter and Dad enjoyed making and selling them up until his 89th year.
Dad cherished his home on the LaHave River and watching the river flow was a daily meditation for him. He loved nature and cared very much about the environment. He was spiritual, loving and kind and he will be greatly missed.
In his memory, donations can be made to SHAID Animal Shelter. A celebration of his life will be held at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, Wednesday, November 17th 2:00 pm and livestreamed via the Sweeny’s website (proof of covid 19 vaccination required for in person attendance). His ashes will be placed beside his beloved wife and lifelong partner, Joan, in the Dayspring Cemetery.
