Roy Martin Neufeld
December 27, 1937 – January 24, 2021
Passed away peacefully at age 83. He will be missed by his bride of 59 years, Audrey (nee Reynolds) and their three children, Wendy, David and Gillian.
He was a loving grandfather to Wendy and Russell’s children, Ryan and Ashley, and to Gillian and Pete’s children, Peter and Madeline. He adored his son David and wife Alison in Vancouver.
Roy’s strength and character sustained him to the end. A fall that took place ten years ago forever altered Roy’s active lifestyle, but freed him to be a gentle loving man. He resided in the Collingwood Nursing Home where he passed away.
Roy served the Toronto District School Board for over 35 years as a teacher and principal. His career took him to downtown Toronto schools, in addition to a one year exchange in Cobham, Surrey in England. He was president of the Principals Association, and of the Probus Club Blue Mountain. Upon retirement, Roy and Audrey moved to Collingwood and re-started their active life.
Roy was an avid reader. He enjoyed fiction, history and travel. His knowledge through academics led him and Audrey all over the world as a well-informed team. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital would be appreciated. A private family service will be held. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Collinwood Nursing Home for their care of Roy.
