Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Geraldine Marie Mitchell (Organ), wife of the late Robert “Bob” Mitchell of 64 years, announce her passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, on July 29, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Skinner) Organ.
Geraldine loved her family deeply; she had a heart of gold and would go above and beyond to help her family through the good and the tough times. Geraldine and Bob spent, as Geraldine would say it, 5 long years living in Cape Spencer, and later on moving to Saint John. Most recently, she spent time at the Pettingill Manor Special Care Home, a place where she loved.
She enjoyed nature- throughout the spring and fall, you could find her in her garden, she was so proud of it. Geraldine was a member of the Regional Hospital Bowling League, although she may not have been the best bowler, her heart was always in it.
Geraldine is survived by her daughter-in-law Pamela (Charles Belliveau); cherished grandchildren Christopher (Shannon), Catherine and Caitlyn; brothers Philip Organ and Jack Organ; sister Anne Walker, her extended family, sisters-in-law Dot (Fred), Pat; brother-in-law Gordon “Buddy” (Mary), along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Onura, for his care and compassion shown towards Geraldine throughout the years. Diane Breau, Cindy Mitchell (Gary Schmitt), we want to thank you all for the kindness you have shown to our family and to Geraldine and a special thank you to her neighbours Anne and Gill who always ensured she was taken care of.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Michael, sisters Margaret, Cass, Mary and Hazel.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A private family graveside service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations in Geraldine’s memory may be placed towards the Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
