Oliver Trann
February 9 1937 – November 7 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce Oliver’s passing.
He was predeceased by Irene, his loving wife of almost 60 years, in 2018, and by his parents Gordon and Antoinette. He is remembered by his children, Gord (Lorena), Doug (Cathy) and Lisa (Ken), grandchildren Ashley, Gord (Dayna), Alexis (Mike), Madison (Aaron), McKenzie (Brandon) and Alexandra (Marc), Nicole, as well as great-grandchildren Olivia, Everley, Charlotte, Sloane, Bennett and Alena, with another on the way. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and always shed a tear when a new one arrived. He was a very proud Poppa. Oliver worked in the transportation field for most of his career, the first 20 years at United Grain Growers then Kingsway Courier, before leaving to start his own small business. But he remained close to many of his UGG friends for the rest of his life. Oliver enjoyed coaching hockey and baseball at Sargent Park and West End Community Clubs while Mom and Dad lived in Winnipeg. He also had a passion for hunting and fishing, and he and Mom enjoyed many trips around Manitoba with their fifth-wheel RV. But he truly loved horses all his life. In the 70’s they moved to a 40 acre site in Teulon MB where he was able to house riding horses and develop a team of chariot ponies. He then participated in chariot racing throughout Manitoba until his health no longer allowed it. Oliver enjoyed the social life in Teulon, whether it be a bonfire in the yard with countless neighbours and long-time friends from Winnipeg dropping in, horse-drawn sled rides in the winter with a thermos of his special coffee, or participation in the billiards tournament he managed for many years. He was never short of friends. In 2019 Oliver began a new chapter in his life, moving to Ontario to be with Christine. The final two years were filled with good times and happy memories of the people he met and the places they visited in and around Bobcaygeon.
Thank you to Dr. Sara Frances, and the nursing staff at Ross Memorial hospital in Ontario for the wonderful care and the compassion they showed Dad during his extended stay. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
