Wesley Zorian 2021

Wesley’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wesley Zorian announce his passing at the Regina General Hospital on October 31, 2021, at the age of 87 years.
Wesley was born on August 29,1934 in Canora, SK, the only child of Steve and Francis (nee Kopeck) Zorian. He attended Burgis and Canora schools before completing a business course at Yorkton Collegiate in 1954.
While working as an accountant for Swifts in Yorkton, SK, he met Jennifer Forstey and they were married in 1958 in Canora, SK. Wesley and Jennifer went into business together when they purchased and ran the Frobisher Hotel in 1968. They sold the hotel and Wesley then managed the Gordon Hotel in Roblin, MB. The next move brought them back to Canora, where they purchased and operated the Canora Laundromat and Apartments in 1972.
In 1978, Wesley began to work for the Saskatchewan Liquor Board. He was appointed manager of the Wilkie Liquor Store in 1982 and retired as the manager of the Ituna Liquor Store in 1992.
Once again, Wesley and Jennifer returned to Canora to retire. Together, they enjoyed camping, cross-country skiing, and gardening. Wesley assisted Jennifer in her many crafts, and they would set up a stall at local craft markets to sell their items until Jennifer passed away in 1996.
Wesley was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Canora. He continued to grow his flowers and garden on his own up to this summer when he discovered a local farmer who supplied him with cucumbers and beets for his dill pickles and borsch this fall. He considered moving but remained independent; after all, who was going to feed the hummingbirds in summer?
Wesley spent time with his grandsons travelling to Newfoundland and the East Coast, Denver, Colorado, and Calgary to visit them. He was always ready for a family game of cards with the boys. His grandsons introduced him to the internet and showed him a brand-new world. His iPad kept him entertained for hours and he joined family suppers via FaceTime from Canora.
He will be forever remembered in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him.
Wesley was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Francis, and his wife, Jennifer. He is survived by his son, Howard, daughter-in-law, Bonnie and grandsons, Collin and Graham, as well as his extended family and many friends.
A Funeral Service was held and livestreamed at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 5, 2021, from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, Canora, SK, with Rev. Fr. Petro Tsenov officiating. Interment followed in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Wesley Zorian.
