Obituary of John Ralph Postma
POSTMA: John Ralph –
A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Palmyra, John Postma passed away at Riverview Gardens with his family at his side on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the age of 91.
Born in The Netherlands, John was the son of the late Mike and Trientji (Zwier) Postma.
Beloved husband of 67 years to Trudy Postma (nee Den Haan).
Loving father of Mike Postma (Pat) of Langton, William Postma (Elizabeth) of Chatham, Richard Postma (Lisa) of Chatham, Eunice Postma of Bothwell and John Postma of Kingston.
Proud Grandpa to Jill Vandermeersch (Dave), Alex Postma (Kim), Katrina Postma, Nicholas Postma, Dillon Postma, Grace Postma and Spencer Postma.
Great-Grandpa to Caidan and Evie Vandermeersch.
Dear brother to Hank Postma (Joan) of Sarnia and Dini Postma of Blenheim. Predeceased by his siblings George Postma (Sadie), Margaret Boersma (late Eppe), Susan Cabral (late Joe) and Ralph Postma (late Annie).
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
John worked on the farm with his wife Trudy, raising five children and numerous foster children. He loved going to polka dances and visiting with his friends at their trailer at Clearville Park.
John was the Past President of the Blenheim Lion’s Club.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of John to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
