Obituary of Alexander Thomas Gordon
Alexander (Alex) Gordon
Peacefully at Parkwood Institute, Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, October 31, 2021, Alex (Sandy) Gordon passed away at the age of 93. Dear father of Susanne (Winston) Thomas and Kristene (Pat) Crossman. Beloved grandfather of Tom, Keira, Colleen, Kyle, Hayley, Finnley, and Molly. Much loved brother of Myra Glynne of Ireland and predeceased by his other siblings Bill, Ethel, Flora, Emily, Cecil, Albert, George, and Francis. Uncle Sandy will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews here in Canada and in Ireland, especially Dolores, Joan, Olga, Sharon, Sheila, Wanda, Alan and Conor who all doted on him. Alex was born in Mullingar, Ireland and came to Canada in 1957. He worked for Union Gas for 34 years and kept in touch with the other “flickering flames”, especially his good friend Bob Lunn. He had a lifelong love of horses and was a member of Standard Bred Canada as a trainer for over 50 years. He still loved news from the horse track. Ryan, you kept him up to date, which he appreciated.
A private family graveside celebration of Alex’s life will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 806 Victoria St, London, ON N5Y 4E1 on Saturday, November 6, 2021. In lieu of flowers donation to Childcan 792 Commissioners Road West, London, ON N6K 1C2 or a charity of your choice is gratefully acknowledged. On-line condolences are available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca. Alex would like you to go for breakfast or to have a drink and share a story in his honour. Going for breakfast was one of his favorite things.
