It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my brother Larry Copeman, after a lengthy battle with COPD. He passed at home with me on October 11, 2021.
Larry was born October 8, 1960 in Regina, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Ed and Elaine Copeman, his grandparents Mike and Hazel Makowski, William and Minnie Copeman, and nephew Kordel Reles.
He is survived by his sister Lori, nephew Kayne, his uncle Howard Copeman, great-uncle Paul Lefebre, great-aunt Bernie Mallory, special cousin/confidante Paulette Lisoway, and many other cousins. Larry had many friends he considered family: Allan, Rob, Arlette (and Arlette’s daughter Tammy who was like a niece to Larry), Dale, Darren, Roberta, Blaine and the whole Weaver family. Larry is also survived by his brothers and sisters of Local 119 Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers, of which he was a proud member.
Larry enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be fishing, snowmobiling, boating, and riding his bike, whittling, sitting around campfires, and driving as fast as he could down country roads. During the summers at Sask Beach, Larry would set up a bed, stereo and tv in the wood shed and sleep out there, after building a fire, and his tunes up loud, much to the chagrin of the neighbours!
Larry built gorgeous ponds and waterfalls at his parent’s and sister’s homes. He also enjoyed helping his mother with yard work at the beach. Larry had a heart of gold and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Larry’s happiest times were with friends listening to music and attending concerts. His favourite bands were The Rolling Stones, Kid Rock, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and too many more to mention. It was a lonely time for Larry while in palliative care since May. He was so happy and grateful for the visits from friends. He felt so much better once he purchased a scooter and could get out on his own to visit friends. Think of Larry with a smile when you hear a Stones tune. His suffering is over and he is at peace. Larry will forever be in our hearts, loved and missed.
Much gratitude to RGH Palliative Home Care team, with special thanks to Travis for his excellent, non-judgemental care of Larry.
A casual Celebration of Life will be held at the Serbian Club, 2775 Avonhurst Drive, Regina, SK on October 29, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Larry Copeman October 11th 2021..
