George Murray Wednesday October 6 2021

Murray, George
Through flowing tears and a hint of a smile of a life well led, the Murray family sadly shares the passing of our patriarch, George Murray on Wednesday October 6th, 2021 at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital. An avid sports fan where he counted his beloved Blue Jays and Cleveland Browns amongst his favourites. Born on April 12th, 1940, in Toronto’s West End, George met the love of his life, Barbara and married on September 23rd, 1961. Despite illnesses, they happily shared their 60th wedding anniversary over FaceTime and remained sweethearts until the end. His children, son Kent and his wife, Donna and daughter Leslie will forever miss their father and will always hold the good memories close. Nothing made George prouder than his two granddaughters, Nicole (Ricardo) and Kristen and three great-grandchildren Enzo, Aria and Emma. He spoke of them often and was thrilled to receive pictures and videos from all of them over the years. Among his many roles throughout his career at CP Rail, the Co-op and D&M Transport, his favourite by far was his time spent semi-retired at the Peel District School Board where he worked as a custodian. George was predeceased by his parents and brothers and sister but will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephew. Everyone loved Georgie…. everyone knew Georgie…. he was truly a gift for us all.
A Celebration of Life will be held with plans shared in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
