HOLST, Marie
Marie passed away on October 1, 2021 at the age of 101 years. Marie was born on December 4, 1919 in Vibank, SK to Joseph and Magdalena Stober. In 1927 the family moved to Masefield, SK where they took a homestead. In February 1941, she married August Holst. They moved to Mankota, SK in 1946 and then to Allan, SK in 1960 where they continued farming. Marie and August moved to Saskatoon, SK in 1976. Faith and family were most important to Marie. She loved gardening and knitted and crocheted many afghans and other articles for her family and for charities. Marie volunteered for various charity organizations. Marie was an active member in the church and was a life long member of The Catholic Women’s League.
Marie will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children Edward (Lil) Holst, Tony (Gail) Holst, David (Karen) Holst, Louise (Dale) Dmytrowich, Michael (Jackie) Holst, Robert Holst, Gerald (Lisa) Holst; 16 grandchildren, Greg (Trish) Holst, Doug (Adrienne) Holst, Rhonda (Zane) Yaniw, Calvin (Cathi) Holst, Darren Holst, Wade (Annette) Holst, Kerry-Lyn (Ryan) Christie, Rana (Darryl) Czuy, Chad (Kellie) Holst, Jeffrey (Jaclyn) Dmytrowich, Garett Dmytrowich, Denise (Todd) Wagner, Christopher (Trisena) Holst, Curtis (Tatiana) Holst, Sheryl Holst (Jordan), Brad Holst;
24 great grandchildren, Austin, Jadyn, Brandon, Marissa, Alexia, Chad, Garrett, Blake, Derek, Adelle, Evan, Jennie, Thomas, Davis, Sydney, Joshua, Caius, Eli, Zoe, Ellie, Cedar, Casen, Kieva and Harlan and one great great grandchild Mikawanis; her brothers John Stober and Robert Stober, sister-in-law Theresa Stober, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased by her loving husband August (2001), son Richard (1994), grandsons Jason (1994) and Ron (1997), daughter-in-law Jean (2020).
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church (217 Lenore Drive) in Saskatoon. The Rite of Committal will follow in the Catholic Section of Woodlawn Cemetery.
