Garnet Allison Green
1944-2021
The unexpected passing of Garnet Allison Green, husband of Glenda
(Camick) Green of Fairhaven NB occurred at the Lord’s Cove Wharf
on January 22, 2021. Born in St. Stephen NB on May 18, 1944, he was a
son of Josephine (Wilson) Green and the late Payson A. Green. A loving
husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, in addition to his
wife, Glenda, he is survived by his children: Brendan (Colleen) Green
and Katrina (Tim) Martin all of Deer Island NB; his grandchildren:
Ashley, Jared, and Hayden; his mother: Josephine Green of Deer Island
NB; siblings Bryant (Donna) Green and Greta (Allison) Pendleton both
of Deer Island NB; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A well-known and respected man of the community, Garnet greeted
everyone with a friendly smile. He worked for Connors Brothers for
many years as a Captain of a Herring Carrier. He was also a commercial
fisherman, fishing lobster, scallops and other seafood. Fishing was
not just a job for Garnet, he loved his time at sea. Garnet was a
member of the Fairhaven Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. His
love of singing went beyond that, often blessing others with his
singing over the VHF radio. He was an avid deer hunter and loved to
spent time in the woods.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George NB. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all
services for Garnet will be private and held at a later date. His
interment will take place at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery,
Calder’s Head NB at a later time. In Garnet’s memory,
donations to Fairhaven Baptist Church or to a charity of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
