Winnifred ‘Winnie’ Gertrude O’Leary 1935 2021

O’Leary, Winnifred “Winnie”
Gertrude – Age 86 years of Canso formerly of
Queensport, Guys Co. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the
passing of our dear mother, Winnifred “Winnie” Gertrude
O’Leary, on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in the Canso Seaside
Manor. Born in Antigonish on Valentine’s Day 1935
she was a daughter of the late James and Ethel (Munroe)
Cluney.
Winnie is survived by her children, Wayne (Pauline), Darlene
(Ian), Maxine (Kevin P.), Donna (Josh) and Debbie (Kevin S.);
daughter-in-law, Audrey; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Osborne and
Son, Robert.
Winnie was a mother of 6 but was like a mother to many
others. Mom loved picking berries, knitting and baking. She will be
fondly remembered for her blueberry pie, date squares and especially
her molasses cookies. An animal lover, Mom had a special spot in her
heart for her beloved dogs, Fritz and Partner and many other dogs and
cats.
Mom and Dad spent many enjoyable hours playing Wahoo and
CroKinole at the kitchen table with family and friends.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the
wonderful staff and physicians at Seaside Manor, Canso. It truly
became her home.
A graveside service will be held at a later
date. Donations can be made in Winnie’s memory to
St. Vincent de Paul’s Cemetery Fund,
Queensport.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock
Funeral Home, Canso. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family
