Coates, Christopher
Suddenly passed away at his home in Brechin on September 22, 2021, at the age 52. Chris spent most of his adult life in Toronto, but never forgetting his roots in Ottawa.
Chris will remain forever in the hearts of his daughters Katherine and Elizabeth Coates and their mother Chantal Quesnel. Beloved and cherished son of Brigitte Selkirk (James) and the late Harold Coates. Loved grandson of Magdalena & the late Karl Rogall and Rose & Merle Coates, both predeceased
Dear brother of Heidi Tagieff (Harry Ghadban). Uncle of Sydney and Sam Tagieff. His companionship will be cherished by Dione Foyle. Chris will be missed by many aunts, uncles, friends, and co-workers both of Toronto and Ottawa.
Christopher enjoyed being on the water, boating, and golfing, and was particularly passionate about music. He played several instruments including drums, guitar, and base all learned by ear. In particular, he loved the rock group Rush and would often sing out loud fingers drumming to the music; he was not adversed to jumping in with street musicians and playing a mean beat on the bongos, always the entertainer. Chris was a very generous person who could be silly at times, often the perpetrator of a good practical joke. Most recently a Sales Manager with Honeywell, he was a well regarded colleague in his industry. Chris was a humble man; he would want friends to know that he spent 5 years in recovery and with hard work and dedication he continued to rebuild his life.
As per Christopher’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at twelve o’clock in the afternoon at Capital Memorial Gardens in Ottawa. Reception will follow at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, Ottawa.
If desired, memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Addiction Facility of choice would be gratefully appreciated.
