Obituary
In Loving Memory of Charles James Dunn (Chuck)
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Chuck on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Baycrest Hospital, Toronto at age 82 after a short and determined battle with cancer.
Chuck was a devoted, caring, and loving husband to Amparo as well as a loving father to Joanne & (Manny), Sherry & (Jeff), Donna & (Shawn) and Maria. Cherished grandfather to Christine, Brian, Jonathan (JD), Janet, Joanna, Julie, and Danny. Cherished great grandfather to Kyle, Mykah, Jayden, Emmalene, Peytyn, Aiden, Jaxon, and Novalynn. Survived by his sister Diane Pilnachek and brother William (Billy) Dunn & Judy.
He will always be remembered for his kindness that he showed to anyone that crossed his path and the help he bestowed on many people was endless.
Chuck began his career working at a printing press company in Toronto before joining the TTC. After many years as a Toronto city bus operator, Chuck thought he’d be more interested in destination tour travel and left the TTC to join the Gray Coach branch. What a blast he had there!
After many years of driving a bus, Chuck finally decided to retire and that he did at age 57. During his 25 years of retirement his enjoyment came from filling his bucket list. He went on a long driving trip with his beloved mother, travelled back to his hometown of South Porcupine with his daughter Sherry, took many fishing and golfing trips with his brother Billy, and spent an enormous amount of time going for long drives visiting with his family. And, on his off days his favorite past–time was just going to a Tim Horton’s where he’d get his coffee and a bite to eat then drive to a nearby park or lake, while enjoying the time watching everything that surrounded him.
Chuck was interested in sports, especially football whereby in his younger day’s he played on an amateur in-house team and when he got out of shape for that, he turned his attention to the Toronto Argonaut’s season, then to his beloved Toronto Maple Leaf’s and Blue Jay’s and then finally, the Toronto Raptor’s. When it comes to us chanting the famous ‘Go Leaf’s Go’, many will be thinking of him, sending a message to heaven when they finally win a championship.
We all will miss him dearly and he will be forever in our thoughts and prayers.
Following Chuck’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 16th, 2021, at 10:00AM at Riverside Cemetery & Crematorium, 1567 Royal York Road, Toronto, Ontario.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Charles James Dunn May 14 1939 September 23 2021 (age 82)..
