Brant, Russel Winston
November 19, 1938 – September 17, 2021
Passed from Turtle Island to the closer presence of our Creator in his 83rd year, with a reverent willing attitude toward his journey. Dear son of the late Marjorie (nee Duncan) and Kenneth Brant. Beloved husband of the late Jane Barber-Brant. Devoted father of Kenneth of Pheonix, Arizona, Cathy of Prescott, Arizona and Danny of San Francisco, California. Dear brother of Margaret Anderson of Belleville and Albert Brant of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Russel was predeceased by his brothers Sherman (Joe) and Warren and his sisters Jean, Catherine, Mildred and Edith. Grandfather of Danny of Las Vegas, Nevada and Travis of Pheonix, Arizona. Uncle to several nieces and nephews of the Mohawk Territory and surrounding district. Russel was married to Joan Wood of Cobourg.
Russel worked in a variety of trades but favored his role on the Police Force of Pheonix, Arizona. He also enjoyed his role as Boy Scout Master, taking his troop to Grand Canyon adventures. He was a caring and generous man, giving of his energy and resources. He loved Native Arts and Crafts, country music and dancing. On the dance floor he and Jane were spectacular. He was a faithful member of All Saints Anglican Church and the Royal Canadian Legion.
The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Tyendinaga Community Wellbeing Centre for their constant care and expertise over several years as well as the ceremony they conducted for Russel on September 17, 2021. In Keeping with Russel`s wishes cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
