It is with great sadness, but tremendous pride for a life well lived that his family announces Harold Douglas (Red) Warren died peacefully on Sunday, September 12th 2021, in his 92nd year.
He is now reunited with his beloved wife Marion Kathleen (Reis) of 64 years.
Son of the late John Parkhouse and Velma Irene Warren (nee Wilson), Harold was born in Stratford and lived most of his life in Goderich and London.
Harold is the loving father of 6 children, Sharon Keenan (Patrick) of Port Stanley, Larry Warren (Kathy) of Erieau, John Warren of Vancouver, Laura Jagodnik (Ivan) of Prince George B.C., Carol Golem of Erie Beach and Jeff Warren (Kelly) of Parry Sound.
Deeply loved by 14 grandchildren, Tyler Keenan (Jamie), Ashley Russell (Jeffrey), Justin Warren, Michael Elia, Jessie Sprague (Trevor), Kyla Wilhelmsen (Casey), Jonelle Warren (Chris), Michelle Jagodnik (Rob), Camille Jagodnik (Kyle), Russell Jagodnik (Chelsea), Cody Golem, Drew Golem, Kennedy Warren and Kassidy Warren.
He was further blessed by 17 great grandchildren, Thompson, Georgia and Tristan Keenan, Reese, Quinn and Samuel Russell, Julianne and Katherine Sprague, Maeve and Andi Wilhelmsen, Syla Hockin, Tyson and Ava Wallace, Damon and Gavin Doig and Aria and Messer Jagodnik.
Harold is also survived by stepsister Avice Foster, sisters-in-law Evelyn Reis (Jack), Anne Warren (Donald), brother-in -law Bill (Phyllis), many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
He is predeceased by his twin brother Donald (Anne), stepmother Marion, brother-in-law Jack Reis (Evelyn) and sister-in-law Beverley Reis (Bill).
He began his working days stringing lines in Goderich for Bell Canada before moving to London to work for Imperial Oil with his father and later CBM.
Harold had a talent with his hands and carpentry tools, refinishing antiques and caning chairs. His years of meticulous construction also led him into his Warren’s Renovations where he involved himself in many projects not only around his family home but memorable playgrounds and countless schools in his neighbourhood.
Harold was an avid hockey player, hockey coach and hockey dad, spending late, cold hours freezing a hockey rink in the back yard for us every winter. He could be found every March, helping out and cheering on the teams at Young Canada Week in Goderich.
He played for the London Oldtimers and was inducted into their Hockey Hall of Fame. Harold was still skating at the age of 80.
Harold was also an active member of the Lions Club, The Goderich Canoe Club and the Power Squadron where he taught power boating for years. Harold will be fondly remembered as captain of his boat, navigating the waters of Lake Erie and Lake Huron.
Harold and Marion moved to Port Stanley in 1977 and enjoyed their home and boat dock on Lake Erie. Upon retirement, they moved back to their roots in Goderich in 2000, enjoying their beautiful views of the sunset over Lake Huron.
He and his wife Marion enjoyed their yearly trips out to British Columbia to welcome new grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad marvelled at the mountains and the vast wilderness of BC.
Harold enjoyed and appreciated his many friendships in life.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dear friends who have supported him through these last few difficult years and weeks; we are tremendously grateful for your acts of kindness.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will be held at Lakeshore United Church, 56 North Street, Goderich on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. followed by the internment of both Harold and his wife Marion at Maitland Cemetery in Goderich.
Due to COVID19 restrictions, at the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, attendance is limited, those wishing to attend must register on the funeral home’s webpage at www.falconerfuneralhomes.com, face coverings and social distancing protocols are mandatory by all those in attendance.
