Hryhorij worked as an engineering inspector for the Canadian National Railway/Via Rail until his retirement in 1987. He loved nature and lived out his retirement years in his rural home on Lake Simcoe until his early nineties. He loved to read, and was an avid gardener and bee keeper.
He will be remembered for his fierce patriotism in the fight for Ukraine’s independence, his keen intellect and knowledge of Ukraine’s history as well as his good nature, sense of humour, and sheer joy in sharing his knowledge with others.
