Obituary
With Bruce and Nancy by her side, Florence passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
Mom was born on Friday March 1, 1935 to Edward Arthur “Pete” and Margaret Robinson. Mom was an only child but she had two very special school friends, Doreen and Rhoda who have remained best friends to this day. Mom was always proud of the fact that stayed in Minnedosa her whole life. In fact she lived on the same street for over 70 of those years.
Mom worked at Tanners Crossing and Minnedosa Collegiate for many years as the trusty truant officer and teachers aid. She loved every kid she came in contact with and many of them remained friends to the end. Mom had no greater joy than to be able to spend time on her swing from spring to fall and from morning to night waiving to all those that passed by. Especially while the kids were on their way to school and home.
Mom and Dad spent many years enjoying the Old Campground at Clear Lake. There they created many friendships that we have all cherished through the years. Mom could not wait to get up to their cabin and see all of her friends. That tradition continues with her family, Bruce and Nancy. Nancy would provide her with more joy as she took her on countless garden tours as a gardener with RMNP.
Fall was mom’s favourite season because with that came Halloween. The most popular house in the neighborhood because you never knew what to expect. Usually you would end up being chased by the crazy old witch. Mom loved to travel. Whether it was Hawaii, Minot, Alaska with Nancy or hanging out at Bruce’s Hotel in Winnipeg she was at home anywhere.
She was one of the founding members of the Red Hat Society in Minnedosa made up of friends to the end. They spent many happy times together.
Mom’s greatest joy came in her grandchildren Austin and Madisyn. She would look forward to the visits and time spent with each of them. Austin on the Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver or Maddy on their cruise to Alaska. They meant the world to her. As they have grown up she has been a very important person in their lives and a bond neither will ever forget. She was a special Nana.
Mom is survived by Bruce and Sharone, Austin and Madisyn and Nancy and Don. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Mom was predeceased by the love of her life Alex in 2015, her mom and dad, Ruth and Cliff Hodges, Stu and Elsie MacKay and Neil and Shirley MacKay.
We would like to thank the staff and the doctors and nurses at the Minnedosa Hospital for the compassion caring and concern for mom.
