Obituary of Joe Martin
On September 6, 2021, Joseph Richard Martin passed away at home in the presence of his family. Born in Sus, NB on February 6, 1949, Joe was the son of the late Leonard and Eldora (Sherwood) Martin.
Joe is survived by his wife Sheila (Ryan) Martin, sons: Robert (Steven) of the Philippines, Jon (Marlie) of Hampton, NB, and Jeff (Lindsey) of Calgary, AB; and his special girl, granddaughter Norah. He was a brother to Vonda (Hal) Arbeau of Saint John NB, Susan (Bill) Harvey, of Hampton, Gerald of Hampton, Father David Martin of Grand Bay/Westfield, NB, and Nancy Mallery of Saint John. Along with his parents, Joe was predeceased by his son, Paul, and brother, Leonard.
Joe is a retired member of the Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters, Millwrights and Allied Workers. He enjoyed his career as a carpenter, working on many different job sites, while meeting and making many lifelong friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wildish, Dr. Natalie Graves, and the Extra Mural team for their excellent care and support. Also, thank you to the many friends and neighbors for their visits, messages, food, and support over the past several months.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where a public visitation will take place on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00PM, and 6:00 to 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00AM with the interment to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Joe can be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Paul Martin Scholarship Fund, Hampton Food Basket, or to the charity of the donor choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
