Obituary
The family of James (Jim) Mervin Lowndes is saddened to announce his passing at the age of 89 years. Jim passed away peacefully at the Penticton Regional Hospital on Monday, August 30, 2021, with his loving family by his side. Jim was predeceased by his father, Chap Lowndes; mother, Winnifred Lowndes; brother, Alf Lowndes; and daughter, Sherry Haayer.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marg Lowndes; his daughter Brenda Tollefson (Glen); his son Jimmy Lowndes Jr. (Peggy); his son-in-law John Haayer; his grandchildren Doug Haayer (Jody); Darin Haayer (Grace); Dani Nott (Darren); Jason Tollefson (Amber); Lesley Gibbons (Curtis); Tyler Fleming (Stephanie); Shannon Sept (Ryan) and Jamee Lowndes; and his great grandchildren Meagan Haayer, Kirsten Haayer, Ethan Nott, Lily Gibbons, Ashlyn Nott and Teddy Gibbons, as well as well as many other adored family members. Jim was always mechanically inclined having worked for Grove Motors, later he was in partnership with A-1 Towing, and finally retiring from Nor-Mar Industries, as a service writer. In his spare time, Jim loved to snowmobile, fish, camp, and travel. He enjoyed working in his garden and loved a good old rum and coke (the Captain). Jim had a wonderfully sarcastic sense of humour and always had a crowd belly laughing. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The Family would like to thank the loving and dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at the Penticton Regional Hospital for taking care of Jim in his final days.
