James Garland Morris
November 13, 1938 – August 25, 2021

Mr. James Garland Morris, age 82, born in Jeffrey’s, Newfoundland and Labrador passed away peacefully on August 25th, 2021. James was preceded in death by his parents, sister Cora Harney, and brother Eldon Morris.
James is survived with loving and fond memories by his wife: Marion, siblings: Hazel Hynes (Jim) and Perry Morris (Janet), daughters: Krista (Paul Hutchings) and Lea-Ann (Joe Minnett), and grandchildren: Alyssa and Sarah Hutchings, and Jo and James Minnett. He is also survived by many other family members, clergy, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Born in Jeffrey’s, Newfoundland and Labrador James Garland enlisted in the Canadian Army at 18 years of age and served in Canada and Continental Europe before settling in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador. James was a devoted and loving husband, father, and loving Grandfather who was active in his church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and carpentry.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff and nurses at Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion who provided invaluable care to James Garland.
Funeral service will take place on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 2:00pm from All Saint’s Anglican Church, Pouch Cove with burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is planned for James at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay Road on Sunday from 2:00-5:00pm. Visitation is limited due to Covid-19 restrictions. Flowers graciously accepted or a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador or a charity of your choosing.
