It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Edward Murphy of Little Bay announces his passing. Edward passed away at the U.S. Memorial Health Center in St. Lawrence on Friday, August 13th, 2021 at the age of 80.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife, Gabriella of 57 years; sons, Johnny Murphy (Joanne) of Moncton, and Victor Murphy (Krystle) of Bridgewater; daughters, Genevieve Murphy (Terry) of Parker’s Cove, Karen Anne Cremin (Denis) of Saskatoon, and Andrea Marche (Dean) of Halifax; 11 grandchildren, Christopher Murphy (Alexandria House), Noelle Murphy and Kristen Murphy (and their mom Cindy Murphy), Kyle Monette (Amber Magnin), Luc Monette, Joshua Murphy, Jared Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Victoria Murphy, Meaghan Marche, and Alyssa Marche; sisters, Elizabeth Doody (Leonard) of St. John’s, Frances Stimpton of New Hampshire, and Susie Murphy of St. John’s; brother, Michael Murphy of Little Bay plus a large number of brothers and sisters-in-law, family and friends.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Suzanna Murphy; parents-in-law, John Tom and Bertha Walsh; son, Paul; and brothers, John Thomas, Peter, and Patrick Murphy.
The Murphy Family would like to thank all the staff at U.S. Memorial in St. Lawrence for the wonderful care they had provided.
The Murphy Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Homes, Marystown on Sunday, August 15th and Monday, August 16th from 10am – 12pm, 2-4pm, and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Marystown on Tuesday, August 17th, 2021 at 10am
Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Marystown.
In Edward’s memory, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Murphy Family to donate to A Charity of Edward’s Choice.
Edward was born to Edward and Susan Murphy in Little Bay.
He had a varied and interesting work career. Before going out North, he worked in the fishplant, on draggers and did carpentry work. He spent 20 years in the North West Territories working as a Mate and Deck hand on the shipping vessels.
In 1963 he married Gabriella Walsh, the love of his life, and together they raised 6 children. Today they are blessed with 11 grandchildren.
Edward enjoyed listening to traditional Newfoundland music and watching the NTV News. His favorite television shows were Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Edward was a very quiet man and his favorite thing to do was visit with his family.
He will be forever loved and missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.
