(David) Keith Davidson
July 15, 1941 – August 4, 2021
God wrapped his loving arms around our precious father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and friend on August 4, 2021. He quietly left us to be with our beautiful Mom and they are now dancing forever together in heaven. Dad was a gentleman and a gentle man. He had a dignified and quiet strength and was the pillar of our home. Dad was kind and reliable, intelligent and thoughtful, faithful, generous and loyal and he loved to tease with his sarcastic humour those he was closest to. Keith was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan to his mother Lily (Smith), his father Robert and his brother Cyril. Dad spent his first year on the family farm before his father’s sudden passing and then moved with his beloved mother and big brother in to Melfort. Keith went to Broadway School and Melfort Composite Collegiate Institute before continuing his education in the College of Commerce at the U of S. Following a short stint with the Power Corporation he found his calling and become a Medical Radiation Technologist. The majority of Dad’s x-ray career was at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, much of that time specializing in the operating room. Dad truly loved his job and the people he came across every day. He was always recognized by many for his distinctive red beard and his kind and caring heart. Dad met Mom at a dance in Melfort. We will always remember the story of the beautiful girl who sat upon his lap in the back seat of the car the night they met and how she completely and totally stole his heart. They were married on August 23, 1965 and after a short time in Red Deer, Alberta, settled in Saskatoon to raise their family. Dad was the light of Mom’s world. They were best friends, constant companions and true soulmates; two peas in a pod. Dad and Mom enjoyed doing everything together and were always proud and supportive of one another. They travelled together throughout Canada and the US, with lifelong friends in Turkey, but mostly loved their times in Northern Saskatchewan tenting, canoeing, hiking and cross-country skiing together. After Dad retired from RUH he and Mom designed and built their home at Anglin Lake. They spent many happy years there together enjoying times in nature creating many treasured memories with family and friends. Dad also loved getting lost in his beloved books and cherished following the shoreline with Mom in their orange canoe. Keith loved his three children very much; Dawn (Brian Heck), Arden (Steve Moore) and Blake (Jamie Fairley). He was always and forever our biggest champion and cheerleader. Dad’s greatest gift ever was Blake’s return home. Keith loved Brian, Steve and Jaime very much and was so happy, honoured and proud to have them become part of our family. Grampa Keith cherished his five grandsons: Kyle, Connor, Brayden, Liam and Logan. He was always happy to be with them and was so very proud of everything each one of them did. A short time ago Dad met and was able to spend time with his sixth and newest grandson, Finian Davidson. Grampa and Fin were fascinated with each other and shared a special kind of joy that only the very young and not so young understand. Keith was predeceased by the love of his life, Mary in 2018, his father Robert in 1942, his mother Lil in 1974, and his brother Cyril in 2016. We will all miss beyond measure; his hugs, games of cribbage and quiet times together, his love of ice cream, stories on his lap and watermelon seed spitting, the quiet dip of his paddle at the back of the canoe, his special BBQ ribs, sarcastic sense of humour, big heart and his everlasting pride and support. To all the wonderful Nurses, CCAs and other staff at Parkridge Center on East 1 and all other who have cared for him, we are eternally grateful for your kindness, compassion and tender loving care for Dad. There will be a Celebration of Dad’s life held at McClure United Church on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan.
