Obituary of David Murchison
David LeDrew Murchison, born December 27th, 1930 in Saint John NB passed away peacefully at his residence with his family at his side on January 12th, 2021.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy Elizabeth (Dykeman) Murchison; his children: Mark (Tristin) and Leah; grandchildren: Jasmine, Jade, Jacqueline, Alexandria, Luke, Eli, Israel and Nazareth.
David was predeceased by grandson, Gabriel, and granddaughter, Jovial; and his parents Elijah “Lee” Leopold Murchison and Pearl Beatrice (Banister) Murchison.
His career began as a marine draftsman for the Saint John Shipyard and Dry Dock which instilled a work ethic that saw him succeed in everything he did. He then went on to work as a longshoreman at the Saint John City Port for the rest of his career. Dad was always happiest when he was near or on the water. Crystal Beach was where Dad made many lifelong friends while growing that little patch of paradise into a thriving business with mom at his side. He was all about living life to the fullest (known to rip up a dance floor once or twice) and even as Alzheimer’s robbed him of many memories, he continued to make new ones with us.
The family would also like to take this time to thank the staff at Windsor Court for all the love and support during these last couple years and during our father’s passing.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A private family memorial and burial will take place at later date. Donations in David’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David
