Raymond’s Obituary
Raymond James Massam
Born May 9, 1954, High River, Alberta
Raymond passed away June 8, 2021, doing what he loved. Farming – in its entirety.
He worked his whole career in the agriculture industry in Alberta in various aspects of the field but primarily enjoyed his years as an elevator agent, just as his father before him. His love remained following his retirement; he liked fishing, he liked hunting, but his hobby, his passion, was farming – so much so he was still spending his days on the “other side” of the desk as a hand for Cloutier Brothers of Donnelly, AB.
Happy is the man who can make a living with his hobby. – George Bernard Shaw
Easy-going and personable, a man of solid character, Ray is survived by his wife Marlene (Nickonchuk) of 31 years to whom he had a fierce loyalty, and his children Patrick (partner Jess Dempsey) and Abbigale (partner Kevin Anderson) who meant the world to him.
Left behind as well are his brothers, John, Roger (partner Sylvianne La Garde), Barry (wife Gina), sister Donna (husband Roger) Vogel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents James Leroy and Florence Ivy (Willford) Massam.
If so desired donations can be made to Stars Air Ambulance
The man is a success who leaves the world better than he found it; who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
– Robert Louis Stevenson
