Elroy Hector
Geddes – 87, Salmon
River, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Colchester
East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was the eldest son
of the late Maurice and Roxy (Lynds) Geddes.
Elroy was a Past President and Life Member of Branch 26,
Royal Canadian Legion, Truro. After spending 35 years with Canadian
Armed Forces, he retired and started his own electrical company and
then worked for The Snook Group. He enjoyed travelling and had many
fishing trips on the West Coast.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and
brother, he will be lovingly missed by his wife, Marjorie (Whidden);
son, Paul (Cynthia), Comox, British Columbia; daughter, Shelley
(Sheldon), Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren, Deanna (Dave), Calgary,
Alberta; Cody, Calgary, Alberta; James (Andrea), Goose Bay,
Newfoundland and Labrador; Andrea (Jon), Edmonton, Alberta; Erik
(Tamara), Red Deer, Alberta; Keillor, Penticton, British Columbia;
Chloe, Nanaimo, British Columbia; great grandchildren, Eve, Tessa,
Robert, Ty, Ayla, Jaxson, Iris, Opal; sister, Marjorie Murray, Truro.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Cathy;
brother, Ronald (Betty); brother-in-law, Earle Murray.
Many thanks are extended to Victorian Order of Nurses
(Colchester East Hants Branch), Dr. Amanda Webster, Dr. David
Henderson, Dr. Hali Bauld and all the wonderful, caring nurses in
Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre.
As per Elroy’s wishes, there will be
no visitation or funeral. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m.,
Friday, July 2, 2021, at Harmony Cemetery, Harmony Ridge Road,
Harmony, The Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating. (Due to
Covid-19 restrictions, current attendance is limited to 75;
thank you for your understanding. Masks must be worn and physical
distancing will apply. Webcasting of the graveside service will be
available on this website starting at 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 2, 2021
and will remain on our site for some time afterwards.)
In lieu of flowers, donations in Elroy’s memory to
VON (Colchester East Hants Branch) or charity of choice are
welcomed.
