Obituary of Susanna Drake
It is with great sadness the family of Susanna Drake of Burin announce her passing on June 22, 2021 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center at the age of 75 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 57 years David; her son Greg (Beryl) of Burin; daughters Peggy Butler (Randy) of Burin, Jackie Thornhill (Hank)of Burin and Rhonda Hodder (Simeon) of Burin; grandchildren Jacinda and Janika Hodder, Mitchell Drake, Chantal Smith, Cadance, Natalie and Nikita Butler; great grandchildren Blair and Jack Smith, Charlie Mercer, Rhea and Connor Skiffington, Nicholas Kelly, Jessie and Guy King; siblings Domnic, Adrain (Debbie), Howard (Marjorie), Kenneth (Violet) and Kevin; Georgina Mitchell (Robert), Kathleen Hickman (Barry) and Mary Joe Molloy (Tom) plus a large circle of other family and friends.
A Walk Through visitation will take place Wednesday, June 23 from 7-9PM immediate family only, public visitation 2-4PM and 7-9PM on Thursday, June 23, 2021. A private service will be held on Thursday at 9PM by invite only with cremation to follow.
Susanna loved life and to joke and have fun anyone who knew her had to appreciate her great sense of humor. She thought the world of her grandkids and her children. She was a great cook and loved to prepare big meals which she enjoyed herself as well. The last meal she cooked was on Friday a batch of beans and homemade bread. She loved her garden and greenhouse, that was one of her great passions. When Susanna wasn’t cooking or gardening she loved to dress up and took great pride in her appearance. She also loved to look good when she went shopping, another thing she loved to do. Susanna was married 57 years to the love of her life David and had 4 beautiful children, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her family will miss her humor and wonderful presence always but they have beautiful memories to cherish. In remembering Susanna think of her wonderful sense of humor and great ability to laugh. Memories live forever.
